The company Speed Queen was founded in 1908 by Joe Barlow and John Seelig as Barlow & Seelig Manufacturing. In 1922, Speed Queen was the first company to introduce washers with nickel-copper tubs.
The first shop was located behind a hardware store in Ripon, Wisconsin. Our first Hand Powered washer was called the “White Cloud”. A Salesmen traveled by railroad and sold a “Baker’s Dozen” 13 units for $96!
It is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial laundry equipment, from 25-pound-capacity tumblers to 250-pound washer-extractors, as well as dryers.
